Giving the appearance of depth in 3D scatter plots

I’m finding that 3D graphs created with Plotly have a bit of a flat feel to them, and that it’s unfortunately a bit hard to tell point/line depth without interacting with the graph. Any suggestions for how to give more of an appearance of depth?

For instance, I’d love to have point size or opacity vary with “into-the-screen” depth. Is this possible somehow?

Thanks a bunch!

A constant marker opacity could be a good place to start e.g:
