Researches and builds complex, cutting edge and scalable Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms, models, platforms, and technologies to improve customer experiences and drive business results. Drives and oversees projects involving large scale-multi dimensional databases, complex business infrastructure, and cross-functional teams.

Primary Responsibilities:

Analyzes predictive modeling, tuning, operationalization, and scalability of business technologies to inform and establish decision strategies.

Transforms large volumes of data into AI-driven solutions using creative, cutting edge open source methods and technologies.

Identifies and prioritizes top AI opportunities to create business and technical requirements.

Formulates mathematical or simulation models of problems, relating constants and variables, restrictions, alternatives, conflicting objectives, and their numerical parameters.

Performs validation and testing of models to ensure adequacy and reformulates models as necessary. Collaborates with senior managers and decision makers to identify and solve a variety of problems and to clarify management objectives.

Presents the results of mathematical modeling and data analysis to management or other end users. Sets vision, goals, and direction of team/organization.

Plans and leads organization-wide initiatives.

Identifies and consults with internal and external technical resources to produce cross-company strategic initiatives.

Provides leadership, technical supervision, and expertise to multiple teams in broad technical areas on complex organization-wide projects.

Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience as a Director, Data Science (or closely related occupation) performing data analytics and modeling of financial and ML models for large-scale datasets using Python, SQL, and Business Intelligence (BI) applications.

Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and two (2) year of experience as a Director, Data Science (or closely related occupation) performing data analytics and modeling of financial and ML models for large-scale datasets using Python, SQL, and Business Intelligence (BI) applications.

Or, alternatively, PhD (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and no experience.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) measuring and evaluating financial assets (equities, mutual funds, ETFs, fixed income, illiquid alternative investments, and derivatives) and risk reward trade-offs using risk management metrics (volatility, value at risk, sharpe ratio, and duration); formulating and modeling financial problems using macroeconomics (inflation, interest, and business cycles), cross asset class financial instrument pricing models (CAPM and Black-Scholes), and portfolio construction methods (Markowitz).

DE designing and building ML models (regression, classification, decisions trees, clustering, and recommender systems) and Deep Learning (DL) (LSTM, VAE, and GAN) with Python using Scikit-Learn and PyTorch; resolving optimization problems (quadratic optimization and gradient descent) and identifying problems in Python using SciPy and solvers (CVXOPT and Gurobi); researching and building Time Series models (forecasting, change-point detection, and gaussian mixture model) in Python using Stats model and open-source packages (Ruptures).

DE performing data extracting, transformation and loading in large data warehouses using SQL Server, Oracle, or Hive; designing and developing distributed ML systems for massive data sets using map-reduce framework, Hadoop, spark, GPU programming, and Amazon Web Services (AWS).

DE visualizing and analyzing data to gain business insights in Python using Pandas, Matplotlib, and Seaborn; building interactive dashboards for business and end users using Tableau or Oracle BI Publisher; and designing and developing data analytical Web applications using Plotly Dash.
