Module Not Found Error for plotly

Hi guys,

I am getting Module not found error even though i install plotly and one more thing same thing happen with cufflinks.

ModuleNotFoundError Traceback (most recent call last)
in ()
1 import matplotlib.pyplot as plt
2 import numpy as np
----> 3 import plotly.plotly as pte
4
5 py.sign_in(‘John_de_lio’,’*****’)

ModuleNotFoundError: No module named ‘plotly’

pleasd help me out.

Hi guys,

finally i found half of the answers .
to resolve this issue you just need to install plotly packages in anaconda env. as i guess when python installing the given packages it was not able to copy the given packages file in anaconda env. As after installing the plotly in anaconda i am able to use.But still i am having problem with cufflinks as in anaconda it is giving error “Packages Not Found Error”.

Please help me to find it out.

Hi @John_de_lio,

Can you describe exactly what commands you’ve run with both conda and/or pip? Also, could you include the output of the following two terminal commands: conda list, pip list?

yeah sure,

for pip->
pip install cufflinks
pip install plotly

or pip install cufflinks plotly

for conda-
conda install plotly
conda install -c conda-forge cufflinks-py

One potential issue here is that cufflinks is not yet compatible with Plotly version 3. So at the very least you should constrain the version of plotly to be 2.7. Follow https://github.com/santosjorge/cufflinks/pull/122 for progress.

Are these list commands both from your root conda environment? You can run into trouble having the same package installed with both pip and conda.

Maybe try uninstalling plotly and cufflinks using both pip and conda, then reinstalling using only pip. I think these commands will do that.

$ pip uninstall plotly cufflinks
$ conda uninstall plotly cufflinks
$ pip install plotly==2.7 cufflinks
