Add google/street maps in 3d scatter plot with python

Hi,

I’m looking for a method to display a map (google / streetmap) in a 3dscatter plot. I have found a topic that implicates that it is possible for R.

Add a google map at x,y,0 to a 3d map

You can plot the map as a scatter3d plot. Create xx and yy arrays with the same dimensions as gg, and with the correct geocoordinates for the map you have retrieved. Then use add_trace(p, x=xx, y=yy, z=0, type=“scatter3d”, color=gg). If you are mapping a large area, gg will be large and you may need to subsample a lower-resolution version to get it to plot correctly. So my use case is i have a plotted a altitude of a certain gps ride into a 3dscatter plot and i want to display on x-y and z=0 an image/map
