Plotting pie charts on a map

Hi,

I’ve been really liking plot.ly, but have the need to generate a map with, at lat-lon coordinates, a pie chart describing some attributes of that location. I see how scattergeo can be used, but can’t seem to get this working with pie charts. Anyone have experience with this or know if it’s possible?

An example would be something like this: http://alaska.usgs.gov/science/biology/seabirds_foragefish/foragefish/images/beach_seine_comp_pie_charts_sm.gif

Hi @noituloveand,

The best I could come up with so far is to plot pie charts specifying the x and y domain and setting the background of the plot as an image of the map.

The main drawback is that the pie charts are static and hence you cannot zoom on the map.

Were you able to achieve it? I am having similar requirements, there is no solution I am getting.
