How to get a multivariate normal distribution in 3D?

I would like to visualize a multivariate normal distribution (with 2 variables) in 3 dimensions. Ideally I want to plot it similar to the visualization here. I can sample values from a multivariate normal with specified means and covariance matrix, but not sure where to take it from there.
