My client, a multinational financial services provider/investment back, is looking for a Senior Python Engineer to join their team in Dublin. This is a new team and a new project where Dublin will be the hub for Europe. This team is responsible for the development and support of all our algorithmic capabilities for their Fast-Track Trading Software System in Fixed Income Clearing Corporation. Data drives their business decisions so having a solid data capture, storage, and access platform is essential – they use new technology and infrastructure to achieve reliability required by the teams based around the globe.

They’re looking for an experienced full-stack Python Engineer to help build and evolve their front office Data and Analytics platform and community. Their aim is to deliver a word-class data and development experience, working in close collaboration with the front office Data and Analytics team, eTraders, Quants and key technology partners. Key to their approach and culture is a strong engineering philosophy and embracing new techniques and technology. This is a highly ambitious and fast-growing new technology team, focused on delivering with impact and with best practices, continuous improvement and learning as core philosophies.

The Position

Contribute to the design, development and evolution of core front office data, analytics and visualisation libraries, frameworks, tooling and applications. Help develop and maintain best-practices and patterns through designs, testing, walkthroughs, documentation and mentoring.

Work closely with the front-office Data and Analytics team and key technology partners to deliver a best-in-class development experience, and be involved and responsible in quality, delivery and deployment of: Strategic data pipelines, Core Python libraries and frameworks, APIs and services, Interactive dashboards, visualisations and tooling.

Be comfortable delivering as an individual contributor as well as collaborating on design and implementation. Bring excellent written and verbal communication and presentations skills with an ability to communicate clearly across all levels across the organisation and abilities.

Provide subject-matter expertise and have a strong sense of ownership, passion for active community building and engagement. · Be a problem-solver, capable of framing delivering technical solutions for different perspectives; to solve for our needs today, whilst evolving the state-of-the-art. Be aware of the latest trends and leading industry solutions and bring new ideas and solutions to the discussion.

Experience

5-7 years software analysis, design and development experience. Strong modern Python 3 programming and standards-based development. Experience in Pythonic, functional, object-oriented design and test-driven development.

Experience with best practices around Python dependency, environment and build management. Solid data structures and algorithms knowledge. Experience with API and library design, development and integration – REST, OpenAPI

Ability to participate in a fast-paced agile environment, balancing both community engagement as well as project work. Comfortable working with distributed users and development teams across time zones

Key technologies:

Operating Environments – Windows, Linux. Analytics – Pandas, Numpy, Requests. Web frameworks – Requests, Flask, FastAPI. Databases, SQL – SQLAlchemy, RDBMS, NoSQL. Visualisation and Dashboards – Plotly Dash, Bokeh, Streamlit.

Python environment, dependency, build management – Pip, Virtual Env, Pipenv, Poetry. Testing – PyTest. Experience using Atlassian software (Confluence, JIRA, Bitbucket). Active participant in the Python community and a penchant for mentoring others. Experience in big data technologies / databases, including Hadoop, HDFS, Spark. Knowledge and appreciation of other programming languages.

Degree in Computer Science or related discipline.

The role is based in Dublin city centre with Hybrid work arrangements available. Candidate must be eligible to work in Ireland/EU.
