Alternatives to dcc.Dropdown?

Hi,

We’ve finally upgraded from Dash v3 to v4 and the new Dropdown is proving deeply unpopular. Sorry, but in a world where every other dropdown they use has inline search in the text box, the separate search box and jumping about with multiple places to focus on is just confusing and slowing down our users . And that’s before we get to the visual glitching.

I’m considering using Mantine Combobox instead, but am loath to pull in all of Mantine for just one component in an otherwise Bootstrap-based app, so thought I’d check to see if there’s any standalone dropdown options out there that stick to the traditional interaction model?

I’ve heard that some people prefer the keyboard navigation in the v3 version. I haven’t seen any reports of visual glitches though. Please feel free to open an issue on the Dash GitHub.

Someone suggested adding a legacy dcc.Dropdown: [Feature Request] Re-introduce pre-v4 Dropdown as "legacy" option · Issue #3844 · plotly/dash · GitHub. This issue is closed as not planned at Plotly, but it could be a good community project to publish the v3 Dropdown as a separate component.
