Adding colored layer behind mapbox map

Hello - is it possible to add a colored layer behind a Mapbox map? I am using the style=whitebg but I would like the background to be something other than white. Perhaps a colored tileset?

@vikram, define mapbox style ='basic'. In this case you have to provide your mapbox_access_token.
